His statements we based on a recent study conducted at Ohio State University Department of Oncology and published in the Journal Cancer Research. The study showed that prostate tumours in animals had a reduction of tumours size of 30% when given lycopene, an extract from rich vegetables like tomatoes and 40% reduction with indole 3 carbinol, an extract found in rich vegetables like Broccoli, but the tumours shrunk 50% when both lycopene and indole 3 carbinol extracts were given. Indole 3 Carbinol also known as I3C is a concentrated powder extract from the Cruciferious vegetables which is found in Broccoli, Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, Turnips and Cauliflower. In African-Americans, those with the lowest lycopene levels had an eight-fold higher risk for cancer compared with those with the highest lycopene levels. Even when looking just at smokers, those with the lowest levels of lycopene were four times as likely to get lung cancer than those with the highest concentrations, the study showed.
